Time-resolved studies of dynamics in molecular and cluster anions

چکیده
Femtosecond photoelectron spectroscopy (FPES) is used to study the timeresolved photodissociation dynamics of clusters excited at I2~(CO2)n/4, 16 780 nm. The FPES experiment on shows that the I~ fragment I2~(CO2)4 formed by excitation to the repulsive state of initially pulls A@ 2%1@2, g I2~ away from the cluster, but by 0.2 ps it is drawn back to complex with more of the solvent molecules. In the n \ 16 cluster, where caging of the is I2~ known to be complete, FPES probes the recombination dynamics of the I2~ in considerable detail. SpeciÐcally, vibrational relaxation on the I2~ X 2&u` state and the accompanying evaporation on molecules can be followed 2 in real time. Vibrational relaxation is essentially complete by 10 ps, whereas solvent evaporation is not entirely complete by 200 ps. The spectra also show evidence for short-lived recombination on the state. The I2~ A 2%3@2, g results are compared to previous experimental results for clusters I2~(Ar)n and recent simulations of cluster dynamics.

Paper Dynamics of cluster anions: a detailed look at condensed-phase interactions
This Perspective reflects on several recent advances in the studies of structure and dynamics of cluster anions, bridging the gap between ‘cluster’ and condensed phases. Applications involving photofragment and photodetachment spectroscopy, as well as femtosecond time-resolved experiments, are described. Special emphasis is given to the effects of microscopic solvation on the electronic structu...
متن کاملMolecular Dynamics Simulation of Al Energetic Nano Cluster Impact (ECI) onto the Surface
On the atomic scale, Molecular Dynamic (MD) Simulation of Nano Al cluster impact on Al (100) substrate surface has been carried out for energies of 1-20 eV/atom to understand quantitatively the interaction mechanisms between the cluster atoms and the substrate atoms. The many body Embedded Atom Method (EAM) was used in this simulation. We investigated the maximum substrate temperature Tmax and...
متن کاملPlanar Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Au Clusters in Pushing Process
Based on the fact the manipulation of fine nanoclusters calls for more precise modeling, the aim of this paper is to conduct an atomistic investigation for interaction analysis of particle-substrate system for pushing and positioning purposes. In the present research, 2D molecular dynamics simulations have been used to investigate such behaviors. Performing the planar simulations can provide a ...
متن کاملTime-resolved dynamics in acetonitrile cluster anions
Excited state dynamics of acetonitrile cluster anions, ðCH3CNÞ n , were investigated using time-resolved photoelectron imaging (TRPEI) for 20 6 n 6 50. The clusters were excited and then photodetached with femtosecond pump and probe pulses at 790 and 395 nm, respectively. Excited state lifetimes varied between 200 and 270 fs over this size range, showing no obvious size trend. Experimental evid...
متن کاملINVITED TOPICAL REVIEW Spectroscopy and dynamics of excess electrons in clusters
Anionic clusters comprising solvent molecules and excess electrons can provide new insights into electron solvation in liquids, an intrinsically bulk phenomenon. This paper reviews experimental and theoretical studies of this class of clusters, focusing primarily on water cluster anions, ðH2OÞ n , but also on iodide-water clusters, I (H2O)n, and methanol cluster anions ðCH3OHÞ n . Issues of par...
